The National University of Advanced Legal Studies

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) was instituted by the Kerala State Legislature through Act 27 of 2005, with a view to refurbish the existing legal education structure in the state. Over the years, NUALS has carved for itself a prodigious position amongst the premier National Law Universities in the country. Situated strategically in Kochi – the industrial capital of Kerala- NUALS is well connected to the High Court of Kerala as well as the primary law firms operating in the city. While the Chief Justice of India is the Visitor to the University, the Chief Justice of Kerala holds the office of the Chancellor of the University.

One of the finest law Universities in India, NUALS has been relentlessly striving towards the dissemination of the knowledge of law and legal process as well as the promotion of legal and judicial reforms. Acknowledging the tremendous responsibility vested in a National Law University, NUALS inculcates in its students, a sense of societal responsibility with the help of legal clinics and courses in the curriculum dedicated to developing public spiritedness and emphasizing the importance of giving back to the society.

The campus is equipped with state of the art academic infrastructure, including a sprawling library and round the clock Wi-Fi connectivity that affords access to various online legal resources including HeinOnline, Westlaw and Manupatra. NUALS has entered into MOUs with Universities in Australia, France, Czech Republic and Switzerland. Furthermore, academic collaboration agreements with Universities in Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America are on the anvil.
